Paintings usually begin with a basic idea that arises from the position of a figure or figures.  I slowly work out the general composition thinking of space and interaction in which figures will exist. The working process is sometimes slow and meticulous. Each painting undergoes extensive transformation.  Time spent on a painting is directly related to the difficulty and complexity of the subject chosen.

Usually when finished with a painting someone asks me to explain the meaning of the work.  I feel its up to the audience to use their own experience and come up with their own personal interpretation.

I'm currently working on 13 paintings.  Through my contact page, I have learned people are interested in looking at works in progress.  I usually work on several pieces at the same time.  It allows me time to analyze every aspect of color and design. In a couple of weeks I will re-photograph the paintings to show how they develop. 2 new  paintings are  in Gallery 1.
